SFTC Picks for Thursday August 1

A new month is finally here. I hope everyone is as excited as I am. If someone can win 27 in a row this month it means you will have a shot at $300,000. I really hope my picks do better this month so

Trap Picks (6-7)


920 Dustin Johnson and Adam Scott- I will start off by saying Tiger Woods is my pick for who will win this tournament. But even with that being said Johnson and Scott are just too good to pass up here. There are some pretty long holes on the back 9 which will really help Johnson and Woods. Even though Matsuyama is a very good golfer that not too many people know about. I cant pick against the better 2 some here with a tie option. Assuming nothing else is added as an early morning play this should lead everyone off with some green to start August.  Confidence:3

1205 Cleveland Indians- Based off of recent performance I don't know how you could pick against the Indians here. Indians have won 7 in a row while the White Sox have lost 6 in a row. White Sox seem like they have packed in for the season despite having veterans on the team. Sale in my opinion is 1 of the top 3 pitchers in the game. But it is really hard to pick him to win knowing his team might be lucky to score 2 runs. Masterson has been solid all year. The Indians hit lefties pitchers very well which why they usually do good against Sale. I got see Sale pitching a gem here but the Indians have had some clutch wins and I see them getting another 1 here at home. Confidence:4

1215 AC Milan- I don't think a long writeup is necessary. Clearly the better team but have to wonder how much motivation they have for a 3rd place game. Confidence:2

1240 New York Mets- I understand what most people think we then see this pick. Harvey against the Marlins looks like an easy green. I don't see it that way and the numbers agree. Harvey has given up at least 3 runs in 3 of his past 5 road starts. You add on top of that Miami has won all 3 games that Harvey has pitched. Marlins lead the season series 9-5. I understand the reasoning for people picking this but what I am trying to say is stay away. I got this as 50-50. The only reason I don't have this as a trap pick and the Marlins winning is because Koehler is pitching. I think if any of the other Marlins starters were going here I would love the pick. Confidence:1

110 Kansas City Royals- Confidence:2

140 Justin Rose- Confidence:1

230 Bayern Munich- I hate sounding like a broken record but Munich is the beat team in world. Its hard not to pick them every time they play. I was impressed with Man City yesterday but I still got Munich here. Confidence:2

245 Swansea City - They are pretty big favorites here. I think it could come down to whether or not Swansea can score twice. I think Malmo will push to get 1 goal because it is 1st leg of the match. I got Swansea City to find a way to win here. Confidence:2

700 Connecticut Sun- Both of these teams have been battling injuries all year. I think the Fever are the better team. But I got this game at 50-50. So I would give a slight edge to the home team. These 2 teams have faced each other twice this year. They have split those games. Confidence:1

705 St. Louis Cardinals- I really like this pick for a couple of different reasons. For those that don't know the Pirates have won 4 straight in this series and keep finding ways to win. I just cant see the lucky bounce and calls continually going their way. On the other hand the Cardinals have lost 7 straight but played pretty well on Wednesday night. Joe Kelly is a second year pitcher for the Cardinals. I watched a couple of his starts last year and was really impressed with his stuff as a rookie. Thought he handle adversity well and had pretty good command. He was put in the bullpen this year and will be making his 5th start of the year. He has had only 1 bat start in the 4. He has looked good in the other 3. I feel I say this every time Morton is on SFTC but I just don't like him. I don't think he is very good and as a Pirate fan I hope another starter comes back and they keep Cole up in the majors. That probably wont happen but there is hope. Morton has lost 4 straight starts to the Cardinals. Even though Morton does do better at home I think he struggles with the Cards lineup. Even without Molina 1 of the best hitter in the game I still think this is 1 of the best lineups in the NL. I got the Cards winning this game because they will be playing angry and wont want the division lead to get to 3.5. Now I don't know the odds on what a team does when losing 4 straight in a series because 5 game series are really uncommon. But I would have to think it would be very low for a team to do it 5 games in a row especially with a team as talented as the Cardinals. The one thing that is holding me back a little bit on this pick is Kelly usually only pitches 5-6 innings. Which could cause some trouble considering the Cardinals bullpen might be tired. Cardinals should win this game. Confidence:4

705 Texas Rangers- Hard to not pick them here. Don't need a ton of research to know that Darvish at home is a solid pick. I do really like Delgado and think the Diamondbacks have a better lineup. Despite the Rangers winning with some walk offs against the Angels they were in a bad slump. Darvish struggled in an outing earlier this year against the Diamondbacks. Nothing to not like about the Rangers here but I think a lot of runs could be scored which might favor the Diamondbacks. Vegas has this around -200 which I think is really high and feel it should be close to -150. Confidence:3

710 Atlanta Braves- Confidence:2

800 Chelsea- I think Chelsea is the much better team and should win this game. I haven't really seen any sort of information on what lineup each team will play. Which could play a huge part for who to pick here. Inter is a really good team and always plays Chelsea tough. But I got Chelsea here. Confidence:2

805 Los Angeles Dodgers- Rusin looks amazing in his last outing against the Giants. But the Giants really struggle against lefties. Dodgers are arguably 1 of the hottest teams in baseball with 1 of the best lineups. Nolasco is good enough to not give up that many runs to the Cubs here. Confidence:3

905 Any Other Result- Here I begin my writeup that says I am an Xgames expert like every other website that posts their picks. This is one is pretty easy if you ask me. I researched this pick for roughly 8.5 hours and decided to flip my lucky coin. Tails never fails. But in all seriousness just a simple odds play. Confidence:0

1000 Phoenix Mercury- A lot of this pick could depend on whether Britney Griner plays or not. I don't think she plays here and I would still pick them to win. Just because Diana Taurasi is 1 of the best players in the league and gives her team a chance to win every night regardless of who they are playing against. If Griner plays I will like them more. But I cant pick against the Mercury here. Confidence:2

1005 Los Angeles Angels- Johnson has been awful is a last couple starts. They were even rumors the Blue Jays thought about dropping them. I would probably try and stay away from this game. But given how bad Johnson has been its hard not to like the Angels here. Confidence:1

1030 Real Madrid by 2- Ronaldo usually puts on a show when he plays the Galaxy. From everything I have heard and saw says the Galaxy wont really play a good team. If recent history means anything then Madrid might win by 3 or 4. Confidence:3
