UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 38-14

UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 31-19

UFC 173

Daniel Cormier vs Dan Henderson- I think this is a really tough matchup for Henderson. Cormier has proved through his last few fights that he is a contender in the UFC. Cormier really only has 1 thing to look for in this fight and that is Henderson wants to use his overhand right. I think Cormier comes out a little cautious and takes over this fight by points. As old as Henderson is I think his toughness is still there and finds a way to stick out this fight for 3 rounds. Cormier by decision.

Renan Barao vs TJ Dillashaw – Barao is one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world and I think there is almost no chance Dillashaw wins this fight. I think the difference between these 2 fighters is Barao advantage on his feet. I think these 2 will be on the ground a lot because I think its Dillashaw best chance in this fight. One of the greatest qualities for Barao is his patience. I think he’ll be patient and pick his spots. I could see a lot of different scenario that could happen here but I think a mid fight submission by Barao is my pick.

SFTC Picks

Cormier by Decision-  Like I said above I think fight either last a few minutes or it will go 3 rounds. I think this fight will go all 3 rounds because these both are some tough dudes. Even though with Henderson being up there in age I think he finds a way to get a decision here. Confidence:4

Any Other Result- Really a tough pick especially since I could see anything happening. Barao will win this fight I could see a KO but I like any other here because I could see a submission but it wouldnt totally shock me if this fight went to a decision. Confidence:2

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 37-14

UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 31-18

Floyd Mayweather vs Marcos Maidana- As much as I dont really like Mayweathers personality hes a beast in the ring. It bugs me how he never fights Pacqiao and how rigged it seems boxing can be at times. But Mayweather will not lose this fight. There was a heated discussion between the 2 fighters and what gloves they were allowed to wear. Madana wanted to wear gloves that basically had no padding in them so it would basically be like he was fighting with his hands. When looking at Mayweather and boxing as a whole more time than not fights go to decision. More times than not if a boxer doesnt get knocked out early they fight for points to make sure they win. For those that are thinking about buying PPV save your money cause  this  fight has snoozer potential and has Mayweather by decision all over it.

SFTC Picks

Mayweather by UD- Basically I cant see any circumstances where Mayweather gets his first loss here. When looking at Mayweathers last 10 fights only 2 of them did he KO someone, 1 split decision and 1 majority. So 8 out of 10 went to a decision so  I think theres a very good chance this goes to a decision and just hope 1 judge doesnt screw the unanimous decision. Confidence:5

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 36-13

UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 31-16

UFC 172

Phil Davis vs Anthony Johnson - Davis needs this fight pretty badly to move up in the rankings and have a shot at the title in a couple fights. Davis by Decision.

Jon Jones vs Glover Teixeira - I will never even 2nd guess picking against the best fighter in the world right now even coming off an injury. Jones 2nd round TKO.

SFTC Picks for UFC 172

Davis by decision- Confidence:2

Jones by TKO, KO DQ- Could see a submission but I think these 2 will be throwing a lot of punches here. Confidence:4

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 35-12

UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 31-15

Fabricio Werdum vs Travis Browne- Browne just a better all around fighter. Browne should be able to dictate where the fight goes. I say Browne with a round 3 KO.

Miesha Tate vs Liz Carmouche - From what I have read and seen Tate is just a beast and should win this fight. Tate by Decision

SFTC Pick

Yes Tate and Browne both win -  You got 2 decent favorites tonight that both should win. I'll take my chances that they do. Confidence:3

Manny Pacquiao by decision

Pacquiao- Confidence:5

Roy Nelson by decision

Roy Nelson - Confidence:3

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 33-12

UFC Fight Night

Shogun Rua vs Dan Henderson- This should be a good fight between 2 of the best to ever be in the octagon. Both are starting to get up there in age and neither has been fighting that well recently. Some of that has been due to playing really good fighters. I said it before Hendersons last fight I think he is basically done being 43 years old. Henderson has been noted for being a great wrestler and his toughness. He was never knocked out until his last fight that was against Belfort. These 2 fought in 2011 and it went 5 rounds to a decision which Henderson won. Rua has talked about getting revenge in this fight I think he does that. With this fight being 5 rounds I could see a decision but I'll take my chances that Rua finished him before the 5th. Rua by TKO in the 4h.

SFTC Picks
This is the only fight that I assume to be added which I will update if I have time and the picks. But Ill plan for either pick.

If the fight is straight up Shogun Rua - Confidence:5

The pick I would assume it to be:

Shogun Rua by TKO, KO- Confidence:3

UFC 171

I'm ready to get back on track and get a sweep tonight!

Carlos Condit vs Tyron Woodley- Condit is the better fighter but Woodley is an absolute freak athleticly. Condit has a decent reach advantage and has a pretty big advantage with technique. I think Condit finds a way to get it done here. Condit by Decision.

Johny Hendricks vs Robbie Lawler- Not sure how you dont root for Hendricks here. For those that dont know or remember Hendricks put up 1 of the best fights I might have ever seen against GSP and got absolutely robbed of the title. I could see him being either way emotionally. But I feel that the huge advantage Hendricks has is his wrestling. He might be 1of the best wrestlers to ever been in the UFC. I think he will really use that to advantage here. Think he grinds this fight out and picks his spots. Hendricks by Decision.

SFTC Picks

Carlos Condit- Better all around fighter here but up against someone who might be dangerous. I'm a little hesitant on this one because I could see Woodley coming out strong early and going for the KO. Confidence:3

Any Other Result- I think its the better pick because I think Hendricks will want to take this fight to the ground. I could see both fighters trying to just pick their spots and not be too aggressive. Confidence:2

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 32-11

UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 28-14

UFC Fight Night 37

Alexander Gustafsson vs Jimi Manuwa- Manuwa is an absolute freak with some nasty strikes. This fight for me comes down to 2 things. 1 is whoever is able to dictate where the fight goes. Manuwa wants to stay on his feet. Gustafsson doesn't want to get in a striking match with him and has a big advantage on his ground game. The second thing is whether or not Gustafsson overlooks Manuwa because he has his sights set on a rematch with Jones. I think Manuwa is really tough and even though he is unproven I think he makes this fight close. I got Manuwa upsetting Gustafsson by decision.

SFTC Pick

Any Other Result-Simply put I think this fight goes to a decision. Then from there its 50/50 but I would lean Manuwa because I think he could put more damage on Gustafsson. You factor in that Gustafsson could win by decision and the fact I think Manuwa has a really good chance to win this fight means this is a really good pick. Confidence:4

Saul Alvarez vs Alfredo Angulo- Think Alvarez will win this match pretty easily and just hoping its not before the 10th round.

Any Other Result- Confidence:3

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 30-11

UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 27-13

UFC 170

Cummins vs Cormier - Hard to really know what to expect for Cummins who has never really been tested in the UFC yet. I could see Cormier coming out and wanting to be aggressive and finish this early. But sometimes doing that he uses a lot of energy and starts to fade late. I'm actually thinking about betting on Cummins at +900. But I got Cormier in a decision.

Any Other Result- Confidence:3

Rousey vs McMann- should be  a good fight and test for Rousey. But I can't pick against her here even though McMann is a really good wrestler. Rousey submission in the 2nd round.

Rousey before 3rd round- Confidence:2

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 29-11
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 26-13

Lyoto Machida vs Gegard Mousasi

Any other result- I don't really have a ton of time to do an in depth writeup but usually I like fighters who are fighting down a weight class cause it gives them a size advantage. Mousasi is a judo black belt with good strikes that I think matches up well with Machida. I think we could see the older Machida come out slow in this fight. I'm not completely sold Machida wins this outright. But I got Machida by decision. Confidence:3

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 27-11
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 25-12

UFC 169

Renan Barao vs Urijah Faber- These are the top 2 fighters in the 135 division. These 2 fought about 1 year and a half ago and I don't think either of these has switched up their style that much since that fight. Faber uses his quickness to beat people and Barao is known for his leg kicks. In the first fight Barao was really able to slow Faber down with his leg kicks. Assuming he does that again here I don't see how he could lose. Might be a bit a snoozer and could come down to the judges but Barao by decision.

Jose Aldo vs Ricardo Lamas- Aldo is an absolute freak and there has been a lot of talk recently about making a jump up a weight class. Sometimes that scares me because a fighter can get too cocky and overlook an opponent. Lamas is tough but Aldo is just too good. I say Aldo TKO in 3rd round.

SFTC Picks

Jose Aldo by KO, TKO, DQ- If this fight was 3 rounds I might be less confident or go the other way. I just have a hard time thinking Aldo doesn't finish this dude before the 5th round. Aldo is not a big submission guy so I think theres a pretty good chance for him win this here. Confidence:3

Renan Barao- Most likely going to a decision but Barao should win barring the judges giving it to Faber. Confidence:4

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 26-11
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 24-11

830 No- Cerrone should win but I don't know about Miocic. Gonzaga is a solid fighter that will put up a good fighter. Give me the better odds play but its just a toss up. Confidence:1

930 Benson Henderson by decision- I might be one of the biggest Benson Henderson fans out there. No way he loses this fight. I think Thomson is tough enough to keep this close and I look for Benson to get enough points with takedowns and leg kicks to give him the decision. Confidence:3

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 25-9
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 23-10

UFC 168

Miesha Tate vs Ronda Rousey - I have only seen both of these fighters a couple of times. I think Rousey is the better fighter hands down. But sometimes she can be a little too aggressive which can leave up openings. These 2 fought last year and Rousey won in the first with an armbar. I think Tate is tough enough to say in the fight for at least 1 round. But I got Rousey with an armbar in the 2nd.

Josh Barnett vs Travis Browne- For me Barnett has a pretty big edge in striking which will be the differenece here. I think Browne is tough and might be able to last them but I think Barnett connects late with a TKO.

Anderson Silva vs Chris Weidman- I have been waiting for this rematch since Silva lost. When Silva lost that fight I was absolutely stunned like most people who follow the UFC. One of the things that made me mad was how Silva taunted Weidman in the first fight which I felt like he deserved to lose for doing that. The key to this fight for me is the mentality of Silva. If Silva wants to be the champ again then he will. Silva is arguably the greatest fighter of all time and is one of the main fighters who really got me interested in UFC. I think he's angry for losing the last match and comes out to dominate Weidman. I got Silva with a TKO in the second.

SFTC Picks

1125 Any Other Result- Even though the odds seem to be pointing to the submission in the first round its just tough for me to like that pick. There are simply too many variables in this for me to like it. Rousey is the better fighter but I think Tate fighting Rousey before gives her a better feel for what she has to do. I think she gets out of the first round. Confidence:2

1200 Anderson Silva- Like I said above Silva is the best fighter in the world when he wants to be. If he comes out aggressive and is the Silva I have seen fight numerous times before with vicious elbows and knees then he'll have his belt back. But if he doesn't respect Weidman after what happened in their last match Silva might be knocked out again. I don't think anyone who really follows UFC could think Silva loses consecutive fights even if they are against Weidman. Confidence:3

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 25-9
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 23-10

930 Urijah Faber- I have this as basically a toss up. Most people who know anything about MMA and UFC have heard of Faber so majority of people will pick him here. But McDonald is a gritty 22 year old who is an absolute beast. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a shot at the title in a couple of years. Faber is the pick here but to my followers who love picking underdogs take McDonald. Dude has really good strength but all signs put for this fight to go to a decision so that's why I have it as a coin flip. Confidence:1

100 Demetrious Johnson- Another tough pick because I think this most likely goes to a decision. Johnson is usually pretty good at scoring points with takedowns so I think he gets this one because of that. Confidence:3

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 23-9
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 21-10

UFC 167

Rashad Evans vs Chael Sonnen -Evans is the better fighter here especially when he wants to be. I really have never been a fan of Sonnen  especially when he got caught with a high testosterone levels and because he talks a little too much for my liking. It will be interesting to see how Sonnen fights at 205. One advantage Sonnen has is his motor that doesn't stop and scares me against a fighter who is lazy in Evans. But I think his counter striking and power is too much for Sonnen. Evans by decision.

Georges St-Pierre vs Johny Hendricks- For those that don't know GSP is one the best pound for pound fighters in the UFC. He has some long arms that he uses to very well to his advantage. For one he doesn't let anyone get close to him. Second is he uses them very well with his takedowns and takedown defense. He might have the best takedown defense I have ever seen. Hendricks on the other hand has been waiting a long time for this fight. The one huge advantage Hendricks has with his striking but with GSPs reach advantage it may be tough for him to land some strikes. I think a lot of people will say given GSPs track record all sign point to a decision. Hendricks has never been in a 5 round fight and GSP has won the majority of his fights by decision. But I think you will see Hendricks come out and be aggressive maybe not in the 1st round but the 2nd and 3rd. Which I think he might be able to land a huge strike or will tire him out so GSP will finish this fight. I say GSP by submission.

SFTC Picks

1130 Evans by Decision- I at least like this pick more than the GSP one. Just because if Rashad is on then I don't really think Sonnen will have much of a chance. Most likely outcome is Rashad winning by decision and that's what I see happening. Confidence:3

1155 Any Other Result- I don't love this pick for the simple fact that GSP is amazing and could easily done what has been doing which is just grind out 5 round fights and win by decision. But factoring in there I give Hendricks a chance and I think Hendricks will be aggressive makes me think this fight wont go the distance. Confidence:2

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 20-9
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 19-9

Dan Henderson vs Vitor Belfort- This should be a good fight by 2 of the greatest fighters of all time. This will be the 2nd time for these going head to head. The first time was a pretty even fight but Henderson won by decision mainly off of his 5 takedowns. Since then he has become mainly a stand up fighter known for his overhand right. Henderson is an Olympic wrestler but he looks like he has lost an edge in his last couple fights. It seems that he lost some of his stamina and speed. Belfort on the other hand has become a more complete fighter and with his southpaw stance will be able to dictate the fight and will limit Hendersons right. Belfort is just a more complete fighter to me and should win this fight. I don't think he will want this to let to get the judges. Belfort KO in 3rd.

SFTC

1030 KO, TKO or DQ by Belfort- The odds probably wont back this pick because there are a lot of people who love Henderson and I am one of them. Henderson was 1 of the fighters that really got me interested in the UFC. He has 1 of the strongest chins I have ever seen. But considering the strengths of Belfort to Henderson shows he should have a pretty big edge here. At 43 Henderson seems to be slowed down and I would look for Belfort to take advantage of that early. Belfort is a different fighter when he fights in Brazil and I would look for him to try and jump on Henderson early. Confidence:3

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 19-9
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 18-9

Lyoto Machida vs Mark Munoz- Lyoto fighting down a weight class should only help him because of his size. He is much quicker than most middle weights. I don't see Munoz being able to win this fight because Machida is too versatile. I could see a decision but the most likely is Machida KOs Munoz in the 4th round.

SFTC Pick

Machida by KO, TKO- Confidence:3

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 16-9
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 16-9

Diego Sanchez vs Gilbert Melendez- Melendez is just all around better fighter right now than Sanchez. Melendez should win this pretty easily. I got Melendez with a TKO in the first.

Roy Nelson vs Daniel Cormier- Everything I have read shows that Nelson did not to try and improve his athleticism and lose any weight. That tells me nothing changes for him. His last 8 wins have been 1st round KOs while his last 5 loses have been by decision. I think Cormier will be able to avoid Nelson early and will be able to win this fight simply because he is in better shape than Nelson. I could see Cormier with a late TKO. But I got to go with the most likely result which is Cormier by decision.

Cain Velasquez vs Junior dos Santos- For those that don't know this will be the 3rd time these 2 fought. Dos Santos won the 1st by KO in the first round and then Velasquez took the 2nd by decision. This is the first fight in a while that I could really see it going either way. I think this fight could be rather quick as both guys I think will want to operate early. But I have to give an edge here to the champ just because I think he is a lot more versatile than Junior. Velasquez with a TKO in the 3rd.

SFTC Picks for UFC 166

Daniel Cormier by Unanimous Decision- Like the stats and reasons I said above Nelson really struggles after the first round. I think that trend continues and the most likely result will happen which is Cormier wins by decision. Confidence:3

Cain Velasquez by KO, TKO or Submission- Only other way Velasquez could win is by DQ which there is a very slim chance of that or by decision. I really don't think that will happen with these 2 that work rather quickly. So basically this pick is who do you think will win. I think Dos Santos really has a chance in this fight despite the money line saying other wise. I think more times than not Velasquez wins this fight. Confidence:2

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 16-8
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 16-8

PPV Fight 10/12/13

Timothy Bradley vs Juan Manuel Marquez - I will start off by saying this is going to be a great fight. So if there is anyone out there that has been waiting for a really great fight tune in to this one. I am a pretty big Bradley fan but I don't see him winning this fight. For those that don't know Bradley suffered a pretty bad concussion in his last fight. This really limited his preparation for this fight and especially for his chin. Look for Marquez to really attack this weakness and most likely knock him out. Juan Manuel Marquez wins.

SFTC Pick

Juan Manuel Marquez- Confidence:4

UFC/Boxing Predictions Record 15-8
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 15-8

UFC 165

Jon Jones vs Alexander Gustafsson - For those that don't know Jones is arguably 1 of the best pound for pound fighters in the world if not the best. Jones is an absolute freak and can basically win a fight anyway he wants. I think Gustafsson could pose some problems for Jones but nothing major. Gustafsson has really improved his ground game and will probably try and take this fight to the ground but that probably wont be a good idea. Gustafsson is one of the bigger fighters Jones will have ever fought. But I just don't see him losing this fight and think there would be a better chance of the Jaguars beating the Seahawks on Sunday. I think Gustafsson holds for a couple of rounds but then Jones ultimately takes over.  Jones by 3rd round TKO.

SFTC Pick

Will Jones win before the start of the third round?

Take Any Other Result- Like I have said in my writeup above I don't see Gustafsson having much of a chance in this fight. It does kind of scare me that Jones can really KO someone with 1 punch and it might only take 1 or 2 of Jones's elbows to connect for this fight to be over. But Gustafsson is a really tough fighter. I think you could see these 2 try and feel each other out in the first round. Think the majority of this fight will be on the ground or you could see Gustafsson run around and try and pick his spots. For those reasons and because Gustafsson has a really tough chin I think he keeps this fight going past the 2nd round. Confidence:3

UFC Predictions Record 14-8
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 14-8

UFC Fight Night 28

Ryan Bader vs Glover Teixeira - These 2 were schedule to fight in May but Bader had an injury and withdrew. Teixeira has so many advantages here against Bader. Teixeira is a great all around fighter but has some vicious strikes. The only real advantage for Bader is his wrestling. But Teixeira has a very good takedown defense and does pretty well in the scramble. The way Teixeira has been fighting I don't think many could question whether he will lose this fight. So its just a matter of when will he win. Teixeira 2nd round TKO.

SFTC Pick

Teixeira by KO,TKO or DQ- I would be absolutely shocked if Teixeira lost this fight. He is a better fighter and has so many advantages against Bader. Bader is a better wrestler but doesn't scare me. Teixeira is a pretty fast fighter and I think there would be a very slim chance that this fight goes to a decision after 5 rounds. So the question comes down to whether or not Teixeira wins by submission. I think its more likely that these guys will be swinging and Teixeira connects in one of the early rounds. But I wouldn't be shocked if Teixeira got Bader in a guillotine in the 2nd round. But even with the possibility of the submission this is still a pretty solid pick. Confidence:4

UFC Predictions Record 11-7
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 13-8

UFC 164

Clay Guida vs Chad Mendes - Both these guys match up well with one another. I think this is Mendes fight to lose. Guida is tough and is bigger than what Mendes is used to fighting against. With that being said Mendes has almost every other advantage. I think all signs point to this fight going to a decision since Guida is tough to knockout. Mendes by decision.

Frank Mir vs Josh Barnett - I am not  a huge fan of Frank Mir and think he could be towards the end of his career. Barnett is a lot bigger than Mir but Mir is very versatile. I just have a hard time thinking Mir will be able to stand with Barnett for 3 rounds. I would look for Barnett to take this fight to the ground early. So barring a submission from Frank Mir then I don't see him winning this. Josh Barnett with a 2nd round TKO.

Benson Henderson vs Anthony Pettis - For those that aren't huge MMA fans this should be a great fight to get started watching. Both of these are some of the best fighters in all of MMA. These fighters fought almost 3 years ago where Pettis won by decision. Both of these fighters have interesting styles. Henderson is more unconventional an some of the most vicious leg kicks I have ever seen. He has some of the biggest legs I have ever seen for someone who is just 155 pounds. Pettis has really been improving his stand up game and is really tough to take down which could cause problems for Henderson. Both of these fighters are tough which makes this a hard fight to predict. Henderson has been 1 of my favorite fighters to watch so I have to pick him here. Henderson by decision.

UFC Predictions Record 10-6
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 13-7

UFC Fight Night 27

Rafael dos Anjos vs Donald Cerrone- Cerrone is just an all around better fighter. Assuming he doesn't get cocky then he should win this fight. Anjos has some dangerous strikes so I would look for Cerrone to try and take this fight to the ground. Cerrone by Decsion.

Carlos Condit vs Martin Kampmann - Kampmann beat Condit almost 4 years ago. Condit has revenge on his mind. Kampmann is a better wrestler which you will see him try and take this fight to the ground. Condit has really improved on his wrestling which was a huge weakness when these 2 previously fought. I look at this fight as 2 guys on opposite ends on the spectrum. Condit is becoming a better fighter and Kampmann might be towards the end of his career. Condit by Decision.

SFTC Picks for UFC Fight Night 27

Yes the fight goes the distance- I could understand why a lot of other people would want to go the other way because the safer play is the fight doesn't. Simply because a lot can happen over the course of 5 rounds. But given the 2 fighters will be on the ground a good bit for the fight and probably dance around trying to pick there spots for takedowns. I got this going to a decision with Condit ultimately winning. Confidence:2

UFC Predictions Record 9-4
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 12-6

UFC Fight Night 26

Urijah Faber vs Yuri Alcantara - Alcantara is a solid fighter that could give Faber some trouble on his feet. But Yuri doesn't have a great ground game. I would look for Faber to try to act that early on. Faber really needs this fight if he wants to have a chance to get another shot at the title. Urijah Faber by decision.

Alistair Overeem vs Travis Browne - Overreem is an absolute freak. It will be interesting to see how he responds following his lose in February to Antonio Silva. Overreem might want to put on a show tonight which would give him a reason to really attack early and go for the kill. But I think Browne is athletic enough to run around and try to keep this fight going on. I cant pick against Overeem and got him with a KO in the 2nd round.

Mauricio Rua vs Chael Sonnen - I'll start off by saying I am not a big Chael Sonnen fan. I think he talks a little too much for my taking. But it will be interesting to see how he handles this fight. He will be fighting up a weight class so it gives a huge size advantage to Rua. But both of these guys are pretty old Sonnen(36) and Rua (31). Surprisingly I would give a slight edge to Sonnen even though he's older. Both of these guys have been struggling in recent fights. Some have been because they have been to great opponents. The main point I think is Rua is really dangerous with the clinch which could cause some trouble for Sonnen. I think this should be a great fight but ultimately I think Rua's size and toughness are enough to get him a win here. Rua by decision.

SFTC Picks for UFC Fight Night 26

I don't feel great about either 1 of these picks and maybe that's a good thing.

Any Other Result- I think this is the better play even though I hate the percentages. Especially when I think a large majority of people will pick any other every time they see it. Basically I will be shocked if this fight even made it to the 3rd round. Both of these guys are big and want to attack early. Overreem might want to put on a show following his loss. My main reason for this being the pick is I think Browne has a solid chance to compete in this fight and have a shot to win. Like my prediction above I think Browne will at least be able to run around a little bit and try not to get in a slug fest right away. But considering the odds play that Browne has a chance and to make a pick that a fight has to end in 5 minutes is too tough for me. Even if it is between 2 guys that want to swing.  Confidence:3

Mauricio Rua - Basically this should be a great fight. I try to not to look at odds but Sonnen is the favorite at -130 on some sites and Rua is the favorite at -115 on others. Just to show you at how Vegas is saying this is a pretty big toss up. My main reasoning is I think Rua is a more complete fighter and I don't like fighters that try to jump up weight classes. Think everything points to this being a decision where I got Rua winning. Confidence:2

UFC Predictions Record 8-3
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 11-5

UFC 162

Lyoto Machida vs Phil Davis - This should be a really interesting fight because Machida is becoming older but is still  a very talented fighter. He is really the only 1 in my opinion that has a shot to compete with Jon Jones in the light heavyweight division. With that being said Machida is so versatile and will be able to dictate where the fight goes. Jones has a pretty big reach advantage and his striking is tough. But he is going to have be conservative and pick his spots because if he is not Machida will counter. At the end of the day I think both fighters are too tough to knockout. I could see a submission late for Machida but I think he will be tired later in the fight and not be able to pull it off. Machida will thrive off of playing in Brazil and win tonight. Machida by decision.

Jose Aldo vs Chan Sung Jung - Jose Aldo is crazy good. Outside Frankie Edgar no one I think has a good chance to even compete with this guy. I haven't seen Sung Jung fight that much but from what I heard is he has a pretty good ground game. But will this fight even be taken to the ground and if it is Sun Jung will probably be on his back. I just don't see Sung Jung being able to last 5 rounds with Aldo. The last time Aldo fought in Brazil he knocked a dude out and jumped into the stands. I think he will thrive off of playing in Brazil and dominate tonight. Jose Aldo TKO 2nd round.

SFTC Picks for UFC 162

1130 Machida by decision- I think is the most likely option to happen in this fight. Now I could see a situation were even if it goes a decision that David pulls it off. But Machida is just a better all around fighter. I see both of these fighters trying to pick there spots and Machida getting enough points for the decision here. Confidence:3

1205 Jose Aldo by KO or TKO- Aldo is an absolute freak. I cant see any scenario here where he loses this fight. So it comes down to a matter of when will he. I think Aldo will thrive off of the crowd and will pound Korean Zombie. I do wonder if Aldo isn't able to knock him out early on if he will begin to be tired and just stick out for a decision. I just don't see that happening tonight especially in Rio. Confidence:5

UFC Predictions Record 6-3
UFC/Boxing SFTC Record 11-3

UFC on Fox 8

Jake Ellenberger vs Rory MacDonald - This should be a really good fight because both of these guys have a lot of similarities and match up very well with one another. Initially I though Ellenberger would of have been the favorite to win this match. Ellenberger has a lot of power and his striking could help him here. MacDonald is young and athletic. He looked amazing in his win against BJ Penn. I could see this easily going either way but I got MacDonald finding a way to win and building on his BJ Penn win. Rory MacDonald by 3rd Round TKO.

Demetrious Johnson vs John Moraga - I don't think I am going to go into a whole lot of detail about this fight. Johnson is a beast. Moraga is good but I don't think he has seen any fighter like Johnson before. Johnson can basically fight in any situation because he is that good. I think Moraga will try and take Johnson down. But I don't see him being able to keep him there. I got Johnson running away with this one.  Demetrious Johnson by Unanimous Decision.

SFTC Picks for UFC on Fox 8

Any Other Result- Let me say this before I go into detail about the match. I hate picking 95% in SFTC and maybe its a sign that a lot people agree with me. But I liked this pick a lot more last night when I saw the percentages. With all that being said I see this fight having the potential to go either way. I would say 55/45 are the percentages that MacDonald wins. On top of that you factor in that both of these guys act relatively quickly. Both fighters are tough but I think there's a pretty good chance this doesn't go to a decision because of how aggressive both these fighters are. The only reason I am not more confident in this pick is I see MacDonald winning  and could see a situation where the decision plays out. But I think ultimately Any Other Result makes a lot of sense here from an odds play. Confidence:4

Demetrious Johnson by Unanimous Decision - If you don't feeling like reading what I said above I will just reiterate it. Johnson is the best flyweight for a reason. Moraga is a solid fighter but has never seen a fighter like Johnson before. Johnson doesn't really have a weakness and if he does I haven't seen it. Flyweights fights generally go to a decision and I see this one playing out that way. I could see maybe a late submission but I think that's pretty unlikely. I see Johnson dominating the fight and Moraga being tough enough to last all 5 rounds. Only thing holding me back on being more confident is it is tough to have to hope for a fight to go all 5 rounds. I do think its the most likely outcome here. Confidence:4

UFC 162

Frankie Edgar vs Charles Oliveira -  I just don't see Frankie losing this fight. Frankie is 1-3-1 in his last 5 fights but they were all against some of the top fighters. Frankie is just too dangerous of a boxer for Oliveira. I just don't see Oliveira being able to stay on his feet and box with Edgar. Oliveira is going to want to use his strengths and fight on the ground. The only problem is will he be able to take Frankie down. Frankie has a very good takedown defense and should keep this fight from getting to the ground. I could see Frankie with a TKO in the 3rd. But I think Frankie wins the first 2 rounds pretty easily and plays for a decision. Frankie Edgar by Unanimous Decision.

Anderson Silva vs Chris Weidman - I can not wait to see this fight. If you are a fan of the UFC I think you have to love watching "The Spider" fight. In my opinion he is the best UFC fighter of all time. I don't know how people could disagree considering he's won 16 fights in a row and has defended the UFC Middleweight Championship a record 10 times. Weidman has good takedowns but will he be able to execute them. The key to this fight is experience. This will be Weidman's  10th professional fight and Silva has made that many fights defending his title. I understand why people think Weidman could have a shot to win this considering Silva is 38. But come on now Silva is the greatest fighter for a reason. Silva will find a way to win this. Anderson Silva by TKO  in the 3rd round.

SFTC Picks for UFC 162

Any Other Result- Like I have said in my writeup I don't see Frankie Edgar losing this fight. Vegas has him around -550 which shows that he is a huge favorite here to win. Here is the 1 stat I like for this pick. Frankie has 15 wins in MMA career. Only 4 of them have been by KO and would of won this pick. Frankie is tough and maybe he could clip Oliveira with a good one since I think they will be on their feet for the majority of the match. But I think all Frankie wants to do is win and that he will play for the decision. Confidence:4

Anderson Silva wins before the start of the 4th round- Silva is just too good a fighter to lose this match. It might take the first round for Silva to feel Weidman out but I think he will start to pour it on. Just a little stat to back up my pick Weidman average fight time is around 8: 44  and Silva's is 9:07. This means generally these fighters dont usually make it to the 3rd round. My initial prediction was Silva wins by TKO in 3rd and I'm going to stick to it. Confidence:5

UFC 161

Roy Nelson vs Stipe Miocic- I don't think a lot really needs to be said about this matchup. Nelson is just a better fighter and should have some huge advantages over Miocic. Nelson has a lot on the line and should come out to put on a show. Even if this is lucky to go to a decision I see no way that Nelson would lose. I don't see it making it that far. Nelson KO in 2nd round.

Rashad Evans vs Dan Henderson- I am really excited for this fight tonight. Henderson was one of my favorite fighters when I began watching UFC. With that being said Henderson is 42. So Rashad will have an advantage with his athleticism. The problem I have with Evans is that he is lazy and sometimes does come out to good starts. Henderson is known for his right hand and never being KOed before. I think Evans should not want to stay on his feet and take the fight to the ground which will give a huge advantage to him. With that being said I think as long as Evans comes to fight he'll with this match. Evans in a decision.

UFC 160

KJ Noons vs Donald Cerrone- In my opinion Cerrone is just a better fighter. Prediction Cerrone by Knockout in 3rd round.

Gray Maynard vs TJ Grant I really like both of these fighters and think Grant will cause some problems for Maynard. But I think Maynard is solid and will score enough points with his takedowns. Maynard by decision

Jame Te-Huna vs Glover Teixeira  I don't think a lot needs to be said here. Teixeira just a better all around fighter and should win this fight. Teixeira by decision.

Junior dos Santos vs Mark Hunt Dos Santos will win this fight just a matter of how. I'm saying Dos Santos by decision.

Cain Velasquez vs Antonio Silva Cain Velasquez should beat up on Silva. I am thinking this match should be quick because Cain should handle him. Velasquez TKO in 2nd round.

SFTC Picks for UFC 160

Any Other Result- Dos Santos is a really good fighter and should be able to beat Mark Hunt. I'm sticking with my initial prediction that it goes to a decision. I think Hunt is a good enough fighter to have this fight go the distance. Confidence:3

Cain Velasquez wins before starts of the 3rd round-  Cain will definitely win this fight its just a matter of when. I'm thinking Silva will be lucky to last 1 round let alone 2. Confidence:4
