SFTC Picks for Saturday 6/1

A new month is finally here so best of luck to everyone today. My NHL series predictions are under my NHL playoff picks.




845 Rafael Nadal- Now I am in no way a tennis expert. But I have followed major tournaments over the past couple of years because I played SFTC. Nadal is clearly one of the best players in the world. Nadal is known for being one of the best on clay which this match is. I don't like to look at odds but Nadal to win 3-0 is -500 which is still really high odds for a pick on SFTC. I really wonder if StreakMaster knows something. But my gut is this should be one of the easiest greens of 2013. Confidence:6

945 Samantha Stosur- As much as I think majority of the people will just follow the rankings and pick Stosur. I think Stosur will win just because she is better in my opinion. This pick is just a toss up. I don't see any numbers in my research that should really favor either side. Confidence:2


200 Bayern Munich- I know they are one of the best teams in the world. Odds are really high for them to win. Confidence:4

400 Peru- Confidence:1

405 Detroit Tigers- Hammel has been pitched very well recently. Verlander on the other hand has kind of struggled. I think Detroit will really look for a big game from Verlander today. I think he really wants to come out and pitch well because of how poorly he pitched. Any time Verlander is on the mound he gives his team a solid chance to win. You include with that Cabrera the best hitter in baseball. They should win here after giving off a walk off yesterday. Confidence:4

405 Chicago White Sox- Battle of 2 1 year pitchers who have never pitched against either team. Oakland is one the hottest teams in baseball. I just don't have a lot of faith in Straily even though he pitched well recently. Think the White Sox finally get a win despite losing 4 in a row. Confidence:3

405 Philadelphia Phillies- Not a big fan of either pitcher. Think Philadelphia is a better team. Confidence:2

410 Colorado Rockies- Greinke just has not looked that good to me since he came back. Think he could struggle with the Rockies who I think have one the better lineups in the NL. Chacin is not that good but I think Rockies should outscore the Dodgers today. Confidence:3

410 Miami Marlins- I don't feel good about either team winning this game and not sure how anyone could be. I just have a lot more faith in Hernandez on the mound than McHugh. Confidence:2

500 Chicago Blackhawks- Now I know I have the Kings winning this series, but I just like the momentum the Blackhawks have right now. Think they will thrive off of the crowd and play well tonight at home. Confidence:3

705 Florida Gators- From what I have seen they look like a pretty solid team. Confidence:3

715 Boston Red Sox- I think Boston is a better team than New York because of all the injuries. I know NY got some of their key players back. But Dubront has pitched very well against the Yankees. Some of the key hitters for Boston hit Hughes pretty well. I think Boston bounces back. Its a shame this game will probably take 4 hours or if I had a W3 or W4 tomorrow I would pick this. Confidence:4

715 Atlanta Braves- I could understand why people would be the Nats but the Braves are the better pick here. Hudson pitches well at home and he is 16-5 with 2.55 ERA against the Nationals. Think the Braves bounce back if they get some run support. Confidence:3

800 Pittsburgh Penguins- For those of you that follow my picks I am a huge Penguins fan. I really think they will win this series and that its just a matter of how many games it will take. I think the first game of the series is tough to predict especially when both teams will becoming off about a week off from actually playing. Now I am not super confident in this pick because I could see the Penguins losing this game. But I think its really hard to pick against a team with as many weapons as the Penguins have especially at home. I think this is a pretty decent pick considering its only the first day of the month. I got the Pens winning 4-2. Confidence:4

830 Miami Heat- I think they are a better pick here even though the Pacers play really well at home. I think Indiana played pretty poorly in game 5 and  I would look for them to respond. But Lebron James is the best player in the game right now  and I think he proved that in this series. Now it wouldn't totally shock me if the Heat lost and wanted to win this series at home. But I think the Heat are smart and want to end this series in Indiana.  Heat by 5. Confidence:3

831 Any other player- I don't see George Hill scoring first even though he needs to play better. I think the 2 most likely things to happen are West/Hibbert to score in post or George hitting a jumper. Confidence:2


900 23 or fewer- Depends on first quarter but I am expecting a low scoring game. Think this will be close but Miami's bench has not been playing that well. Confidence:3

905 Colorado Rapids- Confidence:1

940 Arizona State- Truthfully haven't seen either of these 2 teams play. I would pick Arizona St based off the way they played in the regular season. They just have better numbers in my opinion. Confidence:1

1000 2 or fewer- I think this is just a safer play. Lebron is the obvious 1 but I do think 2 of the Pacers could score 8 in the 3rd. I don't think it will happen but it wouldn't totally surprise me. Confidence:3

1005 Los Angeles Angels- Williams has pitched well this year and Norris has pitched better of late. I thought this would be my trap pick of the day but Altuve will most likely not be in the lineup. Angels have too much fire power in their lineup to not like them here. Confidence:4

833 Charl Schwartzel- I think this is the better pick. Some may not think it is but I think Schwartzel is a more consistent golfer. Confidence:2

735 Senators goals scored- I think this pick just makes more sense. I love the Penguins to death but I could see the Senators easily scoring 2 or 3 goals which is I think is all they would need. Confidence:4

736 Any Other Scorer- This is just a simple odds play. Now Crosby would be my first guess for someone to score because of how well the Penguins have played at home. But any other scorer is just really safe. Confidence:5

810 Angels and Royals-These teams just have better lineups. Confidence:3

810 Milwaukee Brewers-  Estrada just pitches  well against the Pirates for some reason. Pirates really struggle against the Brewers and especially in Milwaukee. Confidence:4

835 Pacers 3 pointers- Pacers not a great 3 point shooting team but I think they should make around 7 and keep this game pretty close. Confidence:3

836 Both players get 11- I think both should score 11. I think Lebron will play better and Granger should want to get going in the first half. If this loses I think it will be because of Granger. Confidence:3

705 Orioles runs- The way the Orioles lineup has been hitting the ball and are going against Morrow. It wouldn't shock me if there isn't a goal in the first period of the hockey game. Confidence:3

707 Baltimore Orioles- Morrow has not pitched well this year. I don't like picking pitchers on their first starts but I just like the Orioles lineup so much more than the Blue Jays right now. Confidence:3

810 Kansas City Royals- Angels lineup is hot but Blanton has not pitched well at all this year. I think Santana should be able to get a win here. Confidence:3

810 Chicago Blackhawks- Detroit got momentum but Chicago was one of the best if not the best team in the NHL going into the playoffs. I don't think a lot needs to be said but they should win this game. Confidence:4

830 Manchester City - Confidence:2

1035 San Jose Sharks- I have flip flopped on this pick and continue to do so. I just really like the Kings. I think Quick will come ready to play at home and they should win this game. It does scare me that the Sharks have momentum and have played really well in this series.  Confidence:2

1030 Ole Miss- I was impressed with what I saw of them today. Confidence:1

110 Cincinnati Reds- Even with Harvey on the mound I cant pick the Mets. Latos has been good this year. Don't have faith in the Mets lineup. Confidence:2

110 Milwaukee Brewers- I like Ryu better than Peralta. But I have more faith in the Brewers lineup at home. Confidence:2

130 Astra Giurgui-Confidence:2

145 Servette- Confidence:1

145 Fenerbache- Confidence:2

205 Texas Rangers- Hard to predict since its Wolf first start this year. Confidence:2

310 Colorado Rockies- I like Cahill but De La Rosa loves pitching in Colorado. Confidence:3

345 Washington Nationals- Both pitchers are very good and I could see this going either way. I just think the Nationals are too good of a team to get swept. Confidence:2

437 Toronto Blue Jays- I just have a feeling Buehrle will pitch well here. Both pitchers have really high ERAs this year. I like Toronto's lineup more than Tampa Bay. Confidence:3

705 New York Yankees- They are hot of late. I think they bounce back after a walk loss on Tuesday. Kuroda has been solid this year and has an ERA under 2. I just really like the way the Yankees are playing. Hammel pitches better at home and I like the Orioles lineup. Just think the Yankees take this game. Confidence:3

706 No Run- Confidence:1

740 Pittsburgh Penguins- Ottawa really squeaked out a win on Sunday. I don't see that happening here even though it wouldn't surprise me. Vokuun has been absolutely unbelievable in these playoffs since hes taken over. Ottawa plays well at home so I give them a edge because of that. On the other hand I look at Anderson who played a near perfect game in game 3 and was lucky to come away with a win. I just don't see that happening again. The penguins will make adjustment and I think come away with a win to make this series 3-1. Confidence:4

741 2 goals or more- I think what happened in Game 3 wont happen again. Penguins will try to rattle Anderson and make this a high scoring game. Confidence:2

840 Heat by DD- Pacers have not been good on the road. Confidence:2

841 Pacers Field Goals Made- I think this is just a safer play. Confidence:2

1005 49 or fewer- Depends on first half but I just think this game will be low scoring and Pacers are a good defensive team. Confidence:2

1010 St. Louis  Cardinals- Never really heard of either pitcher before. I would take the team with the better offense. Confidence:2

SFTC Picks for Tuesday 5/21

1030 Ole Miss by 2- I follow some college baseball but not the SEC. From what I read this is the better pick. Confidence:1

215 Liberec - Confidence:3

300 Shamrock Rovers- Confidence:1

705 Baltimore Orioles- Yankees have been playing well recently. Neither pitcher is that good but I think Baltimore bounces back after a tough loss today. Confidence:3

707 Tampa Bay Rays- I just think Cobb is good and the Rays are a better team. Confidence:3

710 Cincinnati Reds- Not a huge fan of either pitcher but I think Leake is better than Niese. Votto has been on fire in May. Leake struggles sometimes on the road. Confidence:3

710 Miami Marlins- Confidence:2

740 New York Rangers- Rangers should play better at home and they need this game pretty badly. This will be my pick as long as lundqvist plays. Confidence:3

810 Los Angeles Dodgers- Burgos didn't look that good in his last outing I saw. I am a little cautious on this pick because the Brewers might want to really beat Greinke tonight. I think a lot of people will just look at his numbers from his last start and think this should be a lock. I think the Dodgers should win but I think Grienke pitched pretty good against a just ok Nationals lineup.  Confidence:4

810 Kansas City Royals- There in a huge slump right now but I just think they win this game. Norris and Davis are great pitchers. I like Davis a little more. I have to think the Royals turn it around. Confidence:3

835 Magic or Bobcats- Confidence:2

840 Colorado Rockies- Confidence:2

905 Memphis Grizzlies- I think they bounce back after that bad game they played on Sunday. I don't feel confident that they will win but I expect them to play a lot better. Confidence:2

906 Gasol- My reason for this pick is I think Randolph comes out and really focuses on defending Duncan. I am just thinking the Grizzlies bigs will out play the Spurs. Confidence:2

1010 San Jose Sharks- Quick is a beast but its seems they may have him figured out. Sharks really tough at home. Confidence:2

1010 St. Louis Cardinals- I don't see the Cardinals losing 2 in a row to the Padres. Wainwright is too good a pitcher. Padres offense has been pretty good the past couple weeks but I think Volquez wont be able to pitch that well against the Cards lineup. Confidence:4

1015 Washington Nationals- Hard to pick against Strasburg. Confidence:3

1030 92 or fewer- Grizzlies are a pretty solid defensive team. Confidence:3

SFTC Picks for Monday 5/20

I apologize if some of my writeups don't make sense. I'll try to fix them up tomorrow.



1100 Anzhi Makhackala- Confidence:1

1205 Seattle Mariners- Iwakuma has been solid this year and is turning into one of my favorite pitchers. I'm hoping he gets enough run support. Cleveland is tough though since they already won 3 games against them. Confidence:3

107 Toronto Blue Jays- Odorizzl is suppose to be a stud. But I don't have faith in picking a guy making his first start of this year. Even though Baltimore is a little cold I think they should be able to give Dickey enough run support to win this game. This might actually be the best of the day if I like the lineups. Confidence:4

245 Yes both advance- I think its the better pick even though odds would suggest other wise. Confidence:1

400 3 goals or fewer- Confidence:2

707 Baltimore Orioles- This pick is a toss up. I think majority of people will look at this and think Garcia is awful and CC is pitching this should be a lock. I'm disagreeing a little. CC has seemed a little bit off even though he pitched pretty good his last 2 starts. I'm with you that Garcia is not that good. I just think a lot of people will look at his 5.51 ERA and just use that as their reason to pick it. I think he just faced to offenses that were hot and that point in time. Thinking he rebounds with just an average game and then Baltimore's offense does the rest. Confidence:2

715 CC Sabathia strikeouts- Baltimore strikes out a lot. Thinking CC will come out and get a couple in the first couple innings. Confidence:2

740 Chicago Blackhawks- I think the Blackhawks are just a better team. Detroit is tough considering how much playoff experience they have. Think the Blackhawks avenge that game 2 loss and win this one. Confidence:4

741 Full Strength Goal- Confidence:1

805 Texas Rangers- I just have to give them an advantage because of their lineup but Colon is solid. Both teams are hot right now. I just wonder if the Rangers will be fatigued from the Sunday night game. Confidence:2

810  Los Angeles Dodgers  - What a pitching duel this should be. Gallardo has had his ups and downs this year. Kershaw has been on fire lately. His numbers are second to none. I could find stats and reasons to pick either side. I just cant pick against Kershaw with the way he is pitching. It wouldn't shock me if Segura had a nice game here. Confidence:3

820 1 or 2- I might change this pick but at this point in time I'm thinking these offenses get going around then. Could see either of these team score 3 runs in those 2 innings. Confidence:2

920 No hit- Confidence:3

1015 San Francisco Giants - This will be a battle of the ex Pittsburgh Pirates scrub pitchers. I like Vogelsong but the way he is pitching he basically is a scrub right now. Both have an era in the 8s. Vogelsong hasn't been great this year but I think he has to turn it around or he will probably head to the DL. Duke on the other hand is not good. Both are good teams but I'll take the home team. Confidence:2

SFTC Picks for Sunday 5/19

I think Sunday is usually one of the toughest days on SFTC just to let anyone with a decent streak know.



1010 Nadal wins 2-0 - I think this is just the better pick. Nadal is known for being great on clay. From what I have seen Federer hasn't played great. I know history shows Federer should probably win 1 set. But I think Nadal comes out and proves hes the better player at the moment. Confidence:3

1100 Arsenal- Confidence:2

1202 North Carolina by 2- If you follow my blog I am a UNC fanatic. Also my buddy said he thinks the 2 favorites to win it all were Cornell and UNC. Cornell looked amazing yesterday so I'll listen to my buddy. Confidence:3

100 New York Red Bulls- Confidence:1

105 Toronto Blue Jays- This is more of a gut call. I'm not a huge fan of Dickey but I think he will start to pitch better in the near future. I'm hoping he starts today. Yankess have owned the Blue Jays this year so I'm they can turn it around. Confidence:2

130 Keegan Bradley and  Sane Moon Bae- I think this is the better pick. I thought at the beginning of the week Keegan would play very well at this tournament. He played amazing in the first round but has struggled a little bit on this next couple of rounds. He played well on Saturday so I think he should win. The only golfer who is a couple strokes back that I could see winning is Piercy. Schwartzel is 5 strokes off the lead so I see him as maybe a outside shot. I think if Keegan shots -2 today he should win. Confidence:4

135 Philadelphia Phillies- Pettibone has been solid this year. Confidence:3

215 Milwaukee Brewers- Confidence:2

220 Chicago Cubs- Wood has been solid and Gee hasn't. Confidence:4

230 Sweden- Thought they looked really good the other day. Confidence:3

240 Duke Blue Devils- Heard they are the better team. Confidence:2

300 Boston Bruins- Rangers have really struggled on the road but they need this game really bad. Confidence:3

335 Memphis Grizzlies- This should be a great series. I ultimately think the Grizzlies defense and hustle will win them this series. I am thinking they take 1 of these first 2 games. I think its game 1. I think they just match up well with the Spurs.   Confidence:3

336 Tony Parker- I think he would win this prop more times than not. Confidence:3

405 Kansas City Royals- Athletics are starting to get healthy but I think the Royals are too good of a team to get swept. Confidence:3

1130 HJK- They just seem like the better team. The are currently in first place. I think worst case scenario for HJK is they play for a draw on the road. Confidence:2


1205 Cleveland Indians- These 2 teams will be playing a double header today. This will be game 1. Both of these teams are hot coming into this series. Masterson has pitched pretty well this year despite 1 bad outing. Phelps is a reliever who doesn't have too experience pitching a lot of innings. The only thing that scares about picking the Indians is Robinson Cano. Giradi said that he would most likely DH the first game which I think would allow him to focus more on his hitting. Cano is really the only hitter in the NY lineup that scares me. Confidence:4

245 Brighton and Hove Albion- Confidence:1

335 Cleveland Indians -This will be game 2 of the double header. You can read my prediction above for what I think will happen in the first game. Some things could change depending on the first game. But I like Bauer and think he is going to be a solid pitcher. I never heard of Nuno before. Confidence:3

400 Real Sociedad by 2- Real Sociedad lost a week ago to Getafe. You have to go back almost a year to find out the last time they lost. Think they bounce back strong at home. Confidence:2

705 Pittsburgh Pirates- Being a huge Pirate fan this is the kind of game that they lose. But they have improved over the past couple of years. The Brewers are 1-9 in their last 10 games. Estrada has really struggled recently but they gave him some extra days off. Burnett has been pretty consistent this year.
What worries me about this pick is McCutchen is the only Pirate who hits Estrada well despite the pirates getting 5 runs on him 2 weeks ago. Some of the Brewers hit Burnett well. I have to put this as pretty good pick based off of the Brewers struggles but I say pick with caution. Braun not in starting lineup tonight.  Confidence:5

830 Stoke City- Think this could go either way but im thinking a draw is pretty likely. Stoke City is tough at home. Confidence:1

100 Maryland Terrapins- I don't know enough about lacrosse to really give a lot of information. I know Cornell usually has a pretty good team though. Confidence:3

110 New York Mets-  Harvey is one the best pitchers in baseball right now. Gomez is a nobody relief pitcher who has only had a handle full of starts. I cant see Gomez going more than 6 innings in this game. I feel like the Mets should be able to put up acouple of runs up on Gomez which should be enough for Harvey. They only thing that is holding me back from making this a pretty confident pick is the Pirates have scored 18 runs in the past 2 games. But I have to trust my gut and think the Mets bounce back and get a win at home with Harvey on the mound. Confidence:5

120 Tiger or Sergio- I think these are the 2 most likely to win. But there a good amount of golfers right around them that could contend and could make this interesting.  Confidence:4

210 Kansas City Royals- Kuroda has pitched well this year but think Kansas City is a good young team that doesn't want to get swept against the Yankees. Santana being on the mound really helps. Confidence:3

210 Minnesota Twins- Think this game could go either way but Chen really struggles on the road at time. Confidence:2

410 Philadelphia Phillies- This is another 50/50 game. I kind of like the Diamondbacks at home but I don't like Brandon McCarthy. McCarthy has not been good this year. On the other hand Kendrick has been pretty good. I give an advantage to the Diamondbacks lineup with Goldschmidt even though he hasn't hit the ball well in this series. I'm not really sure of what to expect from this game but I would take the team that has a much better pitcher on the mound. Confidence:2

410 Seattle Mariners- Milone has pitched pretty well this year. Saunders has struggle at times this year but he has pitched a lot better at home. I think he pitches well at home again. 210 Kansas City Royals- This should be a good game because it was hard for me to think of who to pick. I could easily see either one of these teams winning this game. These teams played against each other on opening day with the same starting pitchers and Chicago won 1-0. Kansas City has won the first 2 games of this series and I usually don't like to pick teams to sweep a team but I will. Shields has been solid and been 1 of the more consistent pitchers in the past couple of years. The White Sox offense has really struggled of late. I could see Alex Rios having a nice game but I cant pick a team just because of 1 player. I think the Royals are just a better team at the moment. Confidence:3

1235 Washington Capitals- I haven't bought into the Rangers being that good especially after trading away Gaborik. It wouldn't totally shock me if the Rangers won this game because they need it. But I'm sticking with the better team at home. Confidence:3

1235 Game Tied- I think this can obviously go either way. But my prediction would be 1-1 after the first. Confidence:2

105 New York Yankees- Confidence:2

105 Cincinnati Reds- I am a big fan of both of these pitchers today. Samardzija I think is highly underrated and wish he was on a better team. I think the Reds offense should be able to score enough runs to win this game. The only thing that scares me is the Reds bullpen. Confidence:3

107 Toronto Blue Jays- I keep picking them and they keep losing so we know the day I don't pick them then to win they will. I am sticking with it and hoping Dickey can pitch well. Confidence:3

140 70 or more- I feel like I'm sounding like a broken record but these are some tough props. Phil has shot a 68 and 67 in the first 2 rounds. I'm thinking its safer to see him shoot a 70. The only thing that scares me is he has birdied some of the same holes the past couple rounds. Confidence:3

405 Washington Nationals- I am not a fan of picking road baseball teams and I feel even more hesitant when the percentages are so high. But here is what I have to say about this game even as a Pirate fan. I personally do not think Locke is very good and don't think he continues to pitch as well as he has up to this point. The only problem I have with this game is both of these teams struggle to hit the ball. But I'm thinking the Nats will hit the ball tomorrow against Locke. Unless I see some unexpected  change to the lineups tomorrow then this will probably be my most confident pick. Confidence:5

They are playing at home and it all it takes is the Nets to have one bad quarter. It does kind of scare me that they could get into foul trouble or Noah is battling through an injury. 935 2 or fewer- I might change this pick depending on how the first half plays. Neither of these teams have great shooters. I think this will land on 2 or 3. I'm wondering if Kirk Hinrich really helps this pick because it will allow Nate Robinson to shoot more. Confidence:2
